Softball Adds Randee Bettis to Roster

ANDERSON, S.C. - Anderson University head softball coach Tommy Hewitt has announced the addition of former Madison County (Ga.) High School standout Randee Bettis to the Trojan roster.

"Randee will be a terrific addition to our pitching staff," said Hewitt. "She has excellent command of her pitches and is able to change her speeds to compliment her control. We are excited she picked AU to continue her education and softball career. We welcome Randee and her family into the AU family."

Bettis, a 5-foot-9 right-handed pitcher, was a four-year letterwinner for head coach Doug Kesler's Red Raiders and was named MCHS Pitcher of the Year twice. She was a two-time Georgia High School Association (GHSA) First-Team All-State honoree, while earning GHSA Region 8-AAAA Pitcher of the Year recognition and Athens Banner-Herald All-Area First-Team accolades at the conclusion of her junior season.

She garnered all-region, all-area and all-state honorable mention honors as a sophomore after tossing seven shutouts, including a no-hitter and finished with a 1.14 ERA. The Hull, Ga., native was a perfect 14-0, while tossing five shutouts, including a perfect game and posting a 1.16 ERA as a freshman for the Red and Gray.

Bettis currently holds the school career record for ERA and single-season record for strikeouts, with 144. She also played travel ball for the East Cobb Bullets, Georgia Elite and Georgia Impact.

Bettis will be a sophomore in the fall after transferring from Georgia State. She made one appearance in relief for the Panthers last season.
