Child Named Second-Team All-Region by NFCA

ANDERSON, S.C. - After helping lead the Anderson University softball team to its third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, junior standout Molly Child has earned Second-Team All-Region honors, as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).

Child is a three-time All-South Atlantic Conference First-Team selection who reached base safely in 27 straight games during the regular season and posted an 11-game hitting streak and a 10-game hitting streak. She ranked fifth in the league with 40 runs scored, eighth with 12 doubles, ninth with 23 walks and 10th with eight home runs. Child has shined defensively on the diamond, as well, having started 165 consecutive games in center field during her three-year career and has committed just three errors.

The native of LaGrange, Ga., was named All-Region a year ago by both Daktronics and the NFCA, while going on to earn Third-Team All-America honors.

The NFCA awards honor softball student-athletes from the NFCA's eight regions with first and second teams selected for each region. The all-region teams were voted on by NFCA member coaches from each respective region, and all the honorees are eligible for selection to the 2015 NFCA Division II All-American teams.

The 2015 NFCA Division I All-America teams will be announced at on Wednesday, May 27, via NFCA.org
