Sialmas Named Softball Player Of The Week

THOMASVILLE, N.C. -- Maranda Sialmas of Anderson University (16-17 overall, 8-2 CVAC) has been selected as the NCAA Division II Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference (CVAC) women's softball Player of the Week. Sialmas, a senior third baseman from Greenville, S.C., batted .437, scored nine runs, and drove in six runs to lead Anderson to sweeps of Belmont Abbey and Mount Olive. She hit a three-run homer in the top of the seventh inning of the second game against Belmont Abbey to give Anderson an 8-5 victory. She also hit a solo home run in the first game against Mount Olive, a 12-4 Anderson victory. Sialmas leads the team in hits (40) and is tied for the team lead in runs scored (30). She is second on the team in batting average (.351), doubles (8), and total bases (67).
