Anderson Sweeps Softball Doubleheader From North Greenville

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Anderson University collected 10 extra base hits in two games, including three home runs, to sweep North Greenville 11-3 and 9-1 in a pair of five-inning games Tuesday afternoon at Smethers Field. In the first game, Maranda Sialmas drove in three runs and Kayla Williams and Kayla Thrasher drove in two runs apiece to lead the Anderson rout. The Lady Trojans finished the first game with 15 hits, including five doubles and a solo home run by Stephanie Griffis. Anderson scored seven runs in the first two innings then scored two in the fourth and two in the fifth to end the game in the fifth inning. A two-run double by Sialmas in the fifth gave Anderson an eight-run lead and ended the game. Griffis allowed just four hits and struck out four to pick up the victory in the first game. In the second game, Ashley Rogers scattered five hits and struck out seven and Kayla Thrasher and Christina Hendricks both hit two-run homers in the first inning to lead Anderson to the sweep. Thrasher and Hendricks led Anderson's nine-hit attack with two hits apiece. Hendricks also had a two-run double in the fourth to finish the game with four RBI.
