YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The No. 30th ranked Anderson University men's tennis team fell to No. 25 Young Harris, 7-2, in nonconference action on Thursday at Bob and Gayle Nichols Tennis Complex.
With the loss, the Trojans fall to 11-8 overall while Young Harris moves to 12-6 overall.
The Mountain Lions claimed a 2-1 advantage in the doubles portion after a dogfight at the No. 2 flight. Young Harris grabbed the first point with Guilherme Sergio and Alex Pavel defeating Tomas Depiaggio and Hufelder Duarte, 8-0. The Black and Gold bounced back with Simon Wilson and Hank Sartain defeating Cole Conner and Ignacio Ascarrunz, 8-3. Young Harris eventually claimed the final point with Mateo Besada and Tim Fleerkamp narrowly defeating Ignacio Bidegain and Jeffrey Dayton, 8-7.
Young Harris was able to win 5-of-6 singles matches to set the final score at 7-2. AU's Bidegain defeated Mateo Besada, 6-0, 6-4, for the Trojans second point of the match.
Anderson will travel to SAC opponent Coker on Saturday to finish up regular season play. First serve is slated for 2 p.m.
