ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University men's tennis team suffered its third straight loss falling, 5-4, to South Atlantic Conference opponent Newberry at the AU Tennis Complex.
The setback drops the Black and Gold to 11-7 overall and 5-4 in SAC play while Newberry moved to 19-4 overall and 5-2 in conference play.
The Trojans held a 2-1 advantage after the doubles portion while only winning two of the six singles matches to fall 5-4.
Sophomore Preston Morpeth defeated Angel Pizarro, 6-4, 6-4, continuing his solid play while Junior Hufelder Duarte won over Alex Amble, 6-0, 6-4.
Anderson steps out of conference action on Thursday will it travels to Young Harris. First serve is slated for 2 p.m.
