Men’s Tennis Defeats Emmanuel; 6-3

ANDERSON, S.C. Anderson University men's tennis defeated nonconference opponent Emmanuel, 6-3, in its final fall season match on Friday at the AU Tennis Complex.

 With the victory, the Trojans will head into the spring competition 2-0 overall while Emmanuel falls to 0-3 overall.

 Anderson jumped out to a 2-1 advantage following the doubles action. At the No. 1 spot, sophomore Jeffrey Dayton and junior Hufelder Duarte won 8-4 over Tom Jarry and Noah Johansen while junior Tomas Depiaggio and sophomore Ignacio Bidegain put away Enrique Alcaver and Juan Carlos Romero, 8-4, at the No. 2 position. Narrowly defeating Anderson's No. 3 team, 8-6, of sophomore Jerry Price and freshman Simon Wilson was Jorge Canadas and Lucas Pereira.

 Anderson's play remained solid as it won four of the six singles matches. The Black and Gold's top four flights picked up victories with Wilson's 7-6, 7-6 triumph over Lucas Sasaki clinching the match for the Trojans.

 Anderson begins its spring season when it travels to Southern Wesleyan on Feb. 2. First serve is slated for 3:30 p.m.
