Balanced Attack Lifts Trojans Past Tusculum

ANDERSON, S.C. - With four players reaching double figures in the scoring column and shooting 50 percent from long range, the Anderson men's basketball team extended its win streak to four by outpacing Tusculum, 81-53, in South Atlantic Conference play Wednesday night at the Abney Athletic Center.

Anderson (15-6, 11-2 SAC) claimed its ninth win in the last 11 outings and stayed atop the league standings in a tie for first with Wingate. AU improved to 45-9 (.833) at the Abney Athletic Center over the past four seasons, while winning its seventh straight past
Tusculum (5-16, 3-10 SAC), which suffered its sixth setback in the last seven outings.

Forward Bo Holston and guard Denzail Jones posted 14 points apiece to lead all scorers. Holston also swiped three steals, while Jones handed out three assists, recorded two steals and shared game-high rebounding honors by pulling down seven boards. Sophomore guard Myson Jones added 12 points and three assists, while junior guard Chandler Hash netted 11 points and recorded three steals.

Freshman forward Keith Jumper was the lone Pioneer to reach double figures with 12 points. He also recorded a team-high seven rebounds.

With the score knotted at 10-10 with 13:16 left in the first half, the Trojans reeled off eight unanswered points as part of a 26-6 run over the next 9:46 to push out to a 36-16 lead with 3:30 on the clock.

AU connected on 6-of-15 from beyond the arc in the decisive first half, with Myson Jones draining all three of his long-range attempts and enjoyed a 43-25 halftime lead.

The Trojans led 65-35 midway through the final half and claimed a 34-point advantage with 3:43 remaining.

Anderson shot 52.6 percent (30-57) from the field, including 12-of-24 from beyond the arc and converted 16 Tusculum turnovers into 17 points. The Pioneers out-rebounded AU, 36-32, on the night.

The Trojans play host to Lincoln Memorial on Saturday, with tip-off slated for 4 p.m. at the Abney Center. Anderson topped the Railsplitters, 67-66, on the road earlier this season.
