Men’s Basketball at Lincoln Memorial to be Televised

ANDERSON, S.C. - The Trojan men's basketball contest at 20th-ranked Lincoln Memorial on Saturday will be televised nationally on the CBS Sports Network as the NCAA Division II Basketball Game of the Week, as well as broadcast regionally in the east Tennessee area on Knoxville's WVLT Volunteer TV.

Tip-off versus the Railsplitters is slated for noon at Tex Turner Arena in Harrogate, Tenn., with the game available to 99 million homes nationwide.

"We are grateful to CBS Sports for all they've done and continue to do for Division II athletics," said Anderson head coach Jason Taylor of the announcement. "We are extremely excited they have chosen this game as a part of their college basketball package. We really appreciate the opportunity to represent our University and the South Atlantic Conference along with Lincoln Memorial, which is once again one of the nation's very best basketball teams, in front of a national audience."

Saturday's South Atlantic Conference clash pits two of the winningest men's basketball programs in the NCAA's Southeast Region against each other, as the Trojans have made three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, including a trip to the Elite Eight in 2011 and are coming off a Sweet 16 appearance last season, falling to host Montevallo in the regional finals a year ago. The Trojans claimed last season's regular-season SAC championship with a stellar 17-1 record, becoming just the second current member since Carson-Newman in 2001-02 to go through the league slate with just one loss.

The Railsplitters lead the region in winning percentage (80.2%) over the past three seasons, and have won 47 league contests (73.1%) since the 2008 season. Lincoln Memorial earned the 2011 SAC regular-season crown with a 16-2 record and also captured the conference tournament title in 2011.

Anderson and Lincoln Memorial have met five times over the past two seasons with the Trojans holding a 4-1 advantage and have won four straight past the Railsplitters, with the average margin of victory less than six points. The last two contests were decided in the closing seconds, as the last meeting in Harrogate saw AU guard Denzail Jones drain a 3-pointer with 22 seconds on the clock to give Anderson the lead and guard Jo'el Lamb blocked LMU's Brandon Armstrong's last shot with three seconds remaining, as No. 24 Anderson rallied from a late deficit to defeat the eighth-ranked Railsplitters, 62-61.

Last January, the Trojans overcame an eight-point deficit inside the final 86 seconds to upset the top-ranked and previously unbeaten Railsplitters, 78-72, in overtime at the Abney Athletic Center, as guard Chandler Hash drained his game-high fourth 3-pointer with just 3.9 seconds remaining to send the game to overtime and senior guard Nick Trull scored seven of his 13 points on the afternoon in the final 1:26.
