NEWBERRY, S.C. - Anderson rallied from a late five-point deficit and senior guard Denzail Jones drained two free throws with 24 seconds left to send the game into overtime as the Trojans defeated Newberry, 92-85, Wednesday night at Eleazer Arena.

Anderson (13-6, 9-2 SAC) had four players reach double figures in the scoring column, while winning its second straight and seventh of its last nine. The Trojans also kept pace with Lincoln Memorial and Wingate at the top of the league standings, while Newberry slipped to 9-10 overall and 5-6 in the conference.

The victory marked Anderson's third consecutive overtime win past the Wolves over the past two seasons.

Denzail Jones led all scorers with 25 points, while junior guard Chandler Hash nearly recorded a double-double, scoring 22 points and recording nine rebounds. Guard Myson Jones added 13 points and seven rebounds, with Bo Holston tallying 10 points, six rebounds, six assists and five steals.

After Denzail Jones' free throws sent the contest into the extra frame, the Trojans held Newberry scoreless for the first 1:35 of overtime, while Anderson pushed out to its largest lead of the game, 84-73, with 90 seconds remaining. Denzail Jones and Myson Jones then combined to go a perfect 8-of-8 from the charity stripe in the final minute to seal the win.

After the Trojans gained a 15-6 lead at the 13:35 mark of the first half and Newberry battled back to take a 16-15 lead with 11 minutes left in the half, neither team was able to get out to more than a one possession lead. A tip-in by the Wolves Brunes Charles with under a minute to go gave the Wolves a 38-35 halftime lead.

Anderson's D.J. McGowan tied the game at 38-38, then the Wolves went on a 16-2 run, taking a 54-40 lead with 13:52 left. But the Trojans rallied by scoring nine unanswered points to cut the deficit to 54-51 at the 10:29 mark. But Newberry held the advantage and still led by five at 65-60, with less than four minutes remaining.

The Trojans wrap up their two-game South Atlantic Conference road swing at Catawba on Saturday. AU defeated the Indians, 89-86, in overtime earlier this season at the Abney Athletic Center.
