ANDERSON, S.C. - Anderson University men's basketball standout Denzail Jones continues to garner preseason accolades, as the guard has been named to the 2012-13 Basketball Times All-America Team.
Jones, the reigning South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year, earned Super 16 All-American honors from the Division II Bulletin and was also named First-Team Preseason All-SAC earlier this month.
He helped lead the Trojans to a regular-season SAC championship, a runner-up finish at the SAC Tournament and a trip to the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship regional final last season. Jones averaged 17.5 points, 3.33 assists and 2.30 steals last season, and also earned a spot on the 2011-12 Daktronics All-Southeast Region Team.
The Tuscaloosa, Ala., native was named the 2012 Conference Tournament Championship MVP after pouring in a SAC Championship-record 50 points in the double-overtime victory over Newberry in the tournament's semifinals.
Anderson opens the 2012-13 season with a five-game homestand, beginning with rival Erskine on Nov. 14.
