ANDERSON, S.C. - High school standout forward Tony Dargan, Jr., has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball at Anderson University next season, head men's basketball head coach Jason Taylor announced Thursday.
Dargan, a 6-foot-7, 200-pound wing player from Chapin, S.C.,
averaged 17 points and eight rebounds per game last season for
Coach Mike Burge's Chapin Eagles. He earned all-region honors for
Region 5-AAA and has been ranked as the No. 3 senior in South
Carolina by All-Star Sports Report national recruiting analyst Bob
Gibbons in the Charlotte Observer.
As a sophomore, Dargan averaged 10 points and six rebounds to help
lead the Eagles to the second round of the playoffs.
The son of Ernestine and Tony Dargan, Sr., Dargan played AAU hoops for Coach Antoine Saunders and Team TMP.
"I am extremely excited that Tony has chosen to be a Trojan,"
said Taylor. "He comes from a very well-coached team under coach
Burge, where he gets better every day. Tony's size, length and
versatility are exactly what we need in our 2013 class. He will
have a great basketball career at Anderson and be an outstanding
member of our campus community."
