Mount Olive Ends Anderson's Tournament Run

WILSON, N.C. -- Mount Olive ended Anderson University's miracle run in the CVAC Tournament with a 10-3 victory over AU Sunday afternoon. With the victory, Mount Olive, which also won the CVAC regular-season title, earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament. Anderson, which won four straight elimination games to reach Sunday's championship round, finishes the season 29-31-1. Mount Olive jumped out to a 4-0 lead through five innings then added four more runs in the bottom of the sixth. Stephen Gordon was 3-for-5 with a triple, a home run, and four RBI for Mount Olive. Mount Olive outhit Anderson, 14-4. All four of Anderson's hits were singles. John Mac White drove in two of Anderson's three runs. Three Anderson players made the CVAC All-Tournament team -- relief pitcher Brandon Sheriff, outfielder Josh Harrison, and shortstop Kyle Lewis.
