Mount Olive Takes Third Game Of Series

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Casey Hodges pitched five scoreless innings and recorded seven strikeouts to lead Mount Olive to a 5-0 win over Anderson University Sunday afternoon at Anderson Memorial Stadium. The game was called after five innings because of rain. With the win, Mount Olive improves its record to 34-9 overall and 15-3 in the CVAC, while Anderson falls to 20-24, 9-9. Mount Olive got on the scoreboard in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Dustin Richardson, and then added two runs in the second on a two-run single by David Cooper to make it 3-0. In the fifth, Richardson added a solo home run to center, and Josh Harrison drove in Josh Carter to increase the Mount Olive lead to 5-0. In the fifth, Anderson loaded the bases with one out, but Hodges pitched out of jam. Brady Peele took the loss for the Trojans. Mount Olive was led by Cooper, who was 2-for-2 with two RBI, and by Richardson, who was 1-for-2 with two RBI. Jonathan Pitts led the Trojans with two singles in his two plate appearances.
