Baseball Team Wins Two, Advances To Saturday

WILSON, N.C. -- Anderson University put together a four-run rally in the bottom of the eighth inning to eliminate Coker from the CVAC Tournament Friday night. Anderson, 27-30-1, advances to Saturday after winning two elimination games Friday. Anderson will play the winner of Friday night's Erskine-Barton game at 4 p.m. Saturday. In the Trojans' first game Friday morning, five Anderson players drove in one run apiece and Anderson pitching stranded 13 Limestone runners to lead the Trojans to a 5-4 victory over the Saints. In the four-run rally against Coker, Blair Carson provided a two-run single, Clint Neville hit a sacrifice fly, and Josh Harrison had an RBI single. Harrison and B.J. Smith both were 3-for-4 for the Trojans, and Carson and John Mac White drove in two runs apiece. Against Limestone, Anderson had to survive a late rally by the Saints. The Trojans led 5-1 through seven innings, but the Saints scored one run in the eighth and two in the ninth to cut the Anderson lead to 5-4. With one out in the ninth, the tying run was on second base, but reliever Brandon Sheriff got a strikeout and a ground out to end the game.
