Amazing! Trojans Advance To Championship Round

WILSON, N.C. -- Senior Desmond Robson pitched eight innings and Tony Graham drove home the go-ahead run in the seventh inning to lead Anderson University to a 6-4 victory over Pfeiffer in the CVAC Tournament Saturday night. Anderson, 29-30-1, will play Mount Olive at 1 p.m. Sunday. If the Trojans win the first game, a second game will follow to decide the tournament championship and the automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament. The loss ends Pfeiffer's season. Since losing in Thursday's first round, the Trojans have reeled off four straight victories. Robson, who has been struggling with arm problems this spring, abandoned his side arm approach and went back to an over-the-top motion. The switch paid a huge dividend for Anderson. After facing two batters in the ninth, Robson was relieved by Brandon Sheriff, who finished the game to earn his third save of the tournament. Graham's single in the seventh was his 85th hit of the season. He broke the school record for hits in a season on Saturday. The previous record was 80 by Caleb Owen. Anderson got an insurance run when Jonathan Pitts produced an RBI single in the eighth. In the regular-season series between the two schools, Mount Olive won two of three.
