TROJANS COME OUT HOT- COOL OFF LATE V CANES

ANDERSON, SC--The Lady Trojans (14-13, 3-3) Softball team got off to another great start early today as they welcomed Peach Belt Conference opponent Georgia Southwestern State University and took game one 7-4; Hurricane pitching sisters, Brittany and Tiffany Milstid were never able to get into long counts as the Lady Trojans swung at first-pitch strikes all game long. But it was Hurricane freshman pitcher, Jessica Martin who cooled off the AU bats in game two. The lefty had a low release point that kept Lady Trojan batters guessing all afternoon. Martin's release point was so low that she literally bowled her first two pitches across the plate to Trojan lead-off hitter Meridith Knox. Martin recovered quickly, shaking off whatever nerves were there, and pitched a 4-walk no-hitter. AU was led by Emily Monteith, who provide outstanding defense and plenty of offense in game one. She went 2-3 with 4 RBI and a run scored. The Lady Trojan softball team will go to the North Carolina mountains this Wednesday to take on the Mars Hill College Lady Lions.
