Trojan Track and Field Competes at 49er Classic

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Anderson University men's and women's track and field teams competed on day two of the 49er Classic, hosted by Charlotte at the Irwin Belk Track & Field facility on Friday.

After wrapping up the heptathlon's four events on the first day in 13th place, junior Jill Baxter finished the event in 10th, after competing in the long jump, javelin throw and the 800 meter run. She tied for 14th in the long jump with a distance of 4.29 meters and captured fourth in the javelin throw with a toss of 30.21 meters. Baxter closed by claiming ninth in the 800 meter run in a time of 2:39.46.

Junior Savanna Keese placed 24th in the hammer throw with a distance of 40.15 meters, while classmate Brooklyn Watt finished 27th after a toss of 39.55 meters.

Freshman Eric Hoover earned 41st in the men's javelin throw with a distance of 36.17 meters.

The three-day event concludes on Saturday, with the field events beginning at 10 a.m. and the running events slated to start at 11 a.m.
