CHARLOTTE, NC--After a stagnant start in Ovens Athletic Center Tuesday night, the Anderson University Lady Trojans basketball team took a three point lead into the locker room and came out with a vengeance, as a 23-0 run catapulted them to a 67-48 victory over the Queens University Lady Royals, earning AU a spot in the Conference Carolinas Semi-Finals. "It was really a tale of two halves; in the first half we got caught up a little in running," said Lady Trojan head coach, Jim Brunelli. "In the second had, we played Trojan basketball, we made shots, and we played some great defense." The Lady Trojans committed 7 of their 11 turnovers in the first half. Point guard Alexa Neal gained back her composure in the second, settling in and running the half-court offense with precision. Neal had 10 points to go with 6 assists and 5 boards. Genia Holbrook provided a constant presence on the low block, putting up a solid 10 points and 8 rebounds. She fought hard underneath getting to the free-throw line to go 4-4. Shanice Wilson provided spark and grit as she grabbed 8 boards, had 6 assists and put up 12 points. Keana Boyd shot the deep ball like it was her job, going 5-10 from beyond the arc to account for 15 of her 21 points. The senior shooting guard was busy on the glass too, as she pulled down 4 rebounds of her own. Senior center Kirsten Peterson hosted a block party down low as she swatted away two shots, but altered many more. Peterson had 8 points to go along with 10 boards. Coach Brunelli will take his team to the Carolina Conference Semi-Finals in his first year. If Barton beats Pfeiffer tomorrow night, the Lady Trojans will travel to Wilson, NC on Friday. If Pfeiffer pulls of the upset of the #1 seeded Lady Bulldogs, the Lady Trojans will host Pfeiffer in the Abney Center on Friday. Complete Box Score
