ANDERSON, SC--Senior Keana Boyd put up a season high 32 points as the Anderson University Lady Trojans left no doubt on Thursday night at the Abney Center, drumming the Pfeiffer University Lady Falcons 92-56. "Just a great victory," said Anderson head coach Jim Brunelli. "The seniors did it tonight; they did it together with a great team effort, and that's what this night is all about." Seniors Genia Holbrook and Kirsten Peterson shouldered their fair share of the work load. Holbrook chipped in 7 points to go along with 6 rebounds, while Peterson managed 14 points and pulled down 6 rebounds. Sophomore point guard Alexa Neal gave the seniors all the help they needed as she posted her third straight double double with 17 points on 10 asssists. Neal also ran the point with poise and care as she only turned the ball over once and had 5 steals with a very gritty defensive effort. The game started slowly as the Lady Trojans had a slim 9-5 lead with 13:13 remaining in the first half. The barage came in the next 4 minutes, as Anderson went on an 11-2 run that was capped by two Alexa Neal three bombs--The Lady Trojans never looked back. Stifling defensive pressure mounted on the Lady Falcons, as they turned the ball over 29 times and were never able to get anything going offensively. Pfeiffer was led by Allegra Shanee Purnell who had 22 points to go along with 9 rebounds. The Lady Trojans enter the Conference Carolinas tournament red hot, having won 6 of their last 8 games. They finish the season in fifth place at 14-8, and 14-12 overall. "I am just so excited right now," said senior Keana Boyd. "We have come so far this season, and we are going into the conference tournament to redeem ourselves--we are going all the way!" Anderson will play host to St. Andrews Presbyterian College (0-22, 1-25) on Sunday, March 1st for the first round of the Conference Carolinas tournament. Tipoff is set for 7:00pm in the Abney Center.
