Jasmine Whitby made a steal and hit two free throws with two seconds left in overtime as regionally ninth-ranked Mount Olive extended its school-record winning streak to 11 with a 65-62 victory over Anderson in Conference Carolinas women's basketball Saturday at Anderson, S.C. Anderson has lost four of it's last five. Mount Olive (17-3 overall, 13-2 Conference Carolinas) led 8-2 after Prichard's three-pointer and still held a six-point lead at 17-11 on Jasmine Whitby's basket with 10:28 left in the first half. But the visiting Trojans were held without a field goal over the next four minutes and Anderson (9-11, 9-7) used three-pointers by Alexa Neal and Keana Boyd to key an 11-1 run for a 22-18 advantage. Anderson built the lead to as many as six, but managed only two points over the final five minutes of the half. Prichard sank a pair of free throws and Brittany Miller hit a basket with 1:10 remaining to pull Mount Olive within 28-26 at halftime. The halftime score marked the fifth consecutive meeting between the two teams Mount Olive has kept Anderson under 30 points in the first half, dating back to the 2006-07 season. Mount Olive trailed by as many as eight points early in the second half, the biggest margin for either team. But Meaghan Vanderhorst hit back-to-back three-pointers for the Trojans to cap a 10-2 run and tie the game 41-41 with 9:26 left in regulation. Anderson scored its next nine points from beyond the arc and led 50-45 with 5:27 remaining. Miller answered with a basket for Mount Olive and Shequanta McGee sparked a run to put the visiting Trojans back on top. McGee made a steal and scored six consecutive points to give Mount Olive a 53-50 advantage with 3:12 left. After Anderson pulled within a basket, Whitby scored with 1:11 remaining to make it a two-possession game at 56-52. Ashley Abed's basket with 47 seconds left cut the lead to two. Mount Olive had a chance to build the lead back to four, but missed the front end of a one-and-one with 42 seconds left. Prichard blocked a three-point attempt, but Anderson got the offensive rebound and Kirsten Peterson tied the game with 24 seconds left. Mount Olive missed the potential game-winner with two seconds left as the two teams went to overtime. Boyd put Anderson on top just seven seconds into the extra period, but McGee tied the game on Mount Olive's first possession in overtime. Miller pulled down her 15th rebound of the game on an Anderson missed three-point attempt and Whitby followed with a pair of free throws to give Mount Olive a 60-58 lead with 3:55 remaining. Mount Olive would lead the rest of the way, but the outcome would remain in doubt until the final seconds. Miller's basket with 3:40 remaining clinched her double-double and gave Mount Olive a four-point lead. Shanice Wilson hit a pair of free throws with 2:25 left to pull Anderson within 62-60. McGee hit 1-of-2 free throws with 1:25 remaining to extend the lead to three. But Egle Auzaite answered with a basket on Anderson's next possession to make it a one-point game. Turnovers would dictate the final minute of the game. Mount Olive turned the ball over, but Anderson missed a shot with 48 seconds left and Miller came down with the rebound. The visiting Trojans ran the clock down to 22 seconds but turned the ball over again, giving Anderson a chance to play for the final shot. But Whitby forced a turnover with her fifth steal of the game and hit both free throws to extend the lead to three with six seconds remaining. Anderson missed a three-point attempt at the buzzer. Boyd finished with 14 points for Anderson, while Peterson added a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds. Anderson hurt itself from the free throw line, going 4-for-11. Mount Olive was 12-for-17 from the line. Anderson returns to action Monday night at 5:30 as the Trojans look to complete the season sweep of rival Erskine, in Due West, SC. Game Stats
