WILSON, NC - Five players scored in double figures Saturday night as the Barton College women's basketball team pulled into a tie for first place in the Conference Carolinas standings with an 80-66 win over visiting Anderson University. Anderson slipped to 12-12 overall and 12-8 in the conference, despite a game-high 24 points from Keana Boyd. Kristen Peterson (16 points, 11 rebounds) and Alexa Neal (13 points, 13 boards) had double-doubles for the Trojans. The game featured 17 blocked shots - 11 by the Lady Bulldogs. Barton finished with a 47-43 edge in rebounding and outshot AU 43.8 percent to 35.4 percent. Anderson netted 7-of-19 from 3-point land while Barton was 2-of-11. A pair of steals and subsequent layups by Hamlin sparked a 6-0 run late in the first half for Barton that put the Lady Bulldogs in front for good. They led 44-34 at halftime and pushed the lead to 18 points at 52-34. Anderson clawed as close as nine points with 6:16 to play, but Barton closed the door with an 8-0 run.
