Track and Field Posts Fourteen Top-10 Finishes at Terrier Relays

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Paced by Morgan Bridge's school-record time in the 800 meter run and Madison Seay's school-record time in the 400 meter hurdles, the Anderson University men's and women's track and field teams racked up fourteen top-10 finishes, Friday and Saturday at Wofford's Terrier Relays.

Bridges set a school record in the women's 800 meter run by finishing third and crossing the finish line in a time of 2:16.97, while Seay posted a school-record time of 1:04.80 en route to a third-place finish in the 400 meter hurdles. Junior Martha Coleman was eighth in the women's 5,000 meter run in a time of 20:07.53, with classmate Maddie Buddenberg finishing fifth in the women's 3,000 meter steeplechase in a time of 12:54.94.

Junior JoLyn Copeland claimed 12th in the hammer throw with a distance of 36.15 meters and 24th in the discus throw with a toss of 30.99 meters, while sophomore Jasmine Barmore finished 11th in the women's 400 meters in a time of 1:00.56 and fellow sophomore Emilee Edwards was 18th in a time of 1:04.50.

Junior Abigail Bozarth finished third in the women's 1,500 meter run in a time of 4:50.76, with freshman Olivia Rish claiming 14th place in a time of 5:09.09. Senior Hannah Sanford (5:13.62) and sophomore Breck Jones (5:26.77) finished 21st and 32nd, respectively. Sophomore Emily Olson finished 37th in a time of 5:42.41, with freshman Natalie Ardis taking 47th place in a time of 6:28.41.

Freshman Philip Quillen finished second in the men's 3,000 meter steeplechase in a time of 9:47.69, with senior John Drummond (10:24.86) and freshman Riley Dixon (10:33.67) finishing seventh and ninth, respectively. Senior Chris Burton finished fifth in the 200 meters in a time of 21.63, while Burton (10.91) and sophomore Jordan Anderson (10.98) finished fifth and seventh, respectively in the men's 100 meter dash. Senior Caleb Stephenson (11.49) and freshman Austin Elgin (11.56) claimed 40th and 41st, respectively. Anderson also claimed 20th in the 200 meters in a time of 22.39, with Stephenson taking 45th in a time of 23.93.

The freshman tandem of Joey Teachout (15:43.61) and Weston Hutto (15:48.26) finished fourth and fifth, respectively in the men's 5,000 meter run, while sophomore Luke Horne (4:26.92) and freshman David Rolon (4:38.54) finished 35th and 40th in the men's 1,500 meter run, with freshman Hayden Tuten claiming 43rd in a time of 4:44.51. Freshman Cameron Owens-Hunter finished fifth in the 800 meters in a time of 1:57.57, with classmate Matthew Burgess taking 15th place in a time of 2:01.14.

Senior Rashod Monts finished 18th in the 400 meters in a time of 50.91 and 34th in the 200 meters with a time of 23.24, with freshman Robert Jones claiming 18th in the 400 meter hurdles in a time of 59.67.

Chandler Johnson took home 33rd place in the men's hammer throw with a toss of 30.59 meters and finished 38th in the shot put with a distance of 11.20 meters. Freshman Connor Wheatley claimed the 40th spot with a toss of 11.09 meters. Johnson also claimed 20th in the discus throw with a distance of 37.21 meters, with Wheatley taking 32nd place following a throw of 32.01 meters.

Next up for the Trojans is the Susan Rouse Invitational, which will be hosted by Southern Wesleyan on Saturday.
