Evans Wins 5,000 Meter Run at ETSU Invitational

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Freshman Olivia Evans won the women's 5,000 meter run to pace the Anderson University track and field teams on the first day of ETSU's Buccaneer Invitational, inside the Mountain States Health Alliance Athletics Center on Friday.

Evans crossed the finish line in a time of 17:54.64, while fellow freshman Hannah Beach finished ninth in a time of 19:17.59 and senior Hannah Sanford (19:27.25) claimed 12th place.

The women's distance medley team of freshman Olivia Rish, junior Madison Seay, junior Emily Pitts and sophomore Morgan Bridges finished third in a time of 12:58.86.

Freshman Ben Clark finished sixth in the men's 5,000 meter run in a time of 15:33.53, while classmate Weston Hutto crossed the finish line in 15th place in a time of 16:01.79. Freshman Joey Teachout finished 23rd and sophomore Luke Horne was 28th.

The men's distance medley squad of freshman Riley Dixon, sophomore Jordan Anderson, freshman Matthew Burgess and freshman Phillip Quillen claimed 10th place in a time of 10:57.90.
