Trojan Track and Field Posts Nine Top-25 Finishes at Wake Forest Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Anderson University track and field teams resumed their indoor schedule, Saturday at the two-day Wake Forest Invitational, which is be hosted by the Demon Deacons at the JDL Fast Track.

Freshman Ben Clark finished 12th in the men's 3,000 meter run in a time of 9:05.55, while senior John Drummond crossed the line in 25th place in a time of 9:43.10. Freshman Riley Dixon placed 27th in a time of 9:44.47. 

Freshman Connor Wheatley finished 26th in the shot put with a toss of 10.24 meters, with sophomore Jordan Anderson claiming 32nd in the men's 200 meter dash in a time of 24.02. Freshman Austin Elgin was 34th in a time of 24.18.

Anderson finished 34th in the 400 meter run in a time of 54.22, with senior Rashod Monts crossing the line in a time of 54.82 and claiming 37th place. Freshman Robert Jones finished 50th in a time of 56.07.

The women's distance medley relay, comprised of freshman Olivia Rish, junior Emily Pitts, sophomore Jasmine Barmore and sophomore Morgan Bridges finished third in a time of 13:22.60.

Freshman Olivia Evans placed sixth in the women's 3,000 meter run in a time of 10:37.37, while freshman Hannah Beach was 11th in a time of 11:08.79. Junior JoLyn Copeland finished ninth in the weight throw with a toss of 14.07 meters, with Pitts taking 10th place in the 800 meter run in a time of 2:27.17. Bridges was 14th after crossing the line in a time of 2:29.23.

Rish (5:4.07) finished 17th in the mile run, with Copeland capturing 22nd place in the shot put with a distance of 10:08 meters. Sophomore Rileigh Wauters was 43rd in the shot put with a toss of 7.05 meters.

Junior Madison Seay brought home 30th place in the 400 meter run in a time of 1:04.27, with sophomore Emilee Edwards finishing 42nd in a time of 1:07.15. Sophomore Jasmine Barmore claimed 30th place in the 200 meter dash in a time of 27.62.          

Sunday's action starts at 10 a.m. with the 5,000 meter run.
