Trojan Track and Field Set for Wake Forest Invitational

ANDERSON, S.C. – Following a seven-week layoff, the Anderson University track and field squads are set to resume their indoor seasons this weekend at the Wake Forest Invitational, which will be hosted by the Demon Deacons, Saturday and Sunday at the JDL Fast Track.

Saturday's events begin at 9:30 a.m. with the women's 60m hurdles and the men's and women's shot put, while Sunday's action starts at 10 a.m. with the 5000 meter run.

Admission will be $7 for adults and $5 for students 12 and older. Children under 12 are free.     

The Trojans recorded 12 top-20 finishes on Dec. 2 in their lone indoor event of the season at the JDL Kick-off Classic.

Katherine Lewis claimed 19th in the women's mile run, while Jasmine Barmore finished 54th in the women's 60 meter prelims and 32nd in the women's 400 meter run, while Madison Seay was 35th and Emilee Edwards finished 57th. Rileigh Wauters crossed the finish line in the women's 200 meters in 77th place.

Seay finished 35th in the 60 meter hurdles, while Wauters placed 41st. The women's 4x400 meter relay, consisting of Barmore, Edwards, Pitts and Seay finished 12th.

JoLyn Copeland was 11th in the women's weight throw and finished 25th in the women's shot put.

On the men's side, Cameron Owens-Hunter finished sixth in the mile run, while Philip Quillen was 17th. Ian Yates finished 28th, with David Rolon finishing 30th. Weston Hutto placed eighth in the men's 3000 meter run, with Luke Horne claiming 15th. Joey Teachout was just behind in 16th place and John Drummond finished 30th.

Jordan Anderson was 21st in the men's 400 meter run, with Rashod Monts finishing 35th and Robert Jones finishing 43rd. Anderson placed 38th in the men's 60 meter prelims, with Austin Elgin finishing 51st in the men's 200 meters. Chandler Johnson claimed 29th in the shot put, while Connor Wheatley was 36th. Wheatley finished 16th in the men's weight throw, with Johnson finishing 22nd.
