Track and Field Opens Indoor Season at Grand Valley State

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Anderson men's and women's track and field teams opened their indoor seasons at the Grand Valley State Holiday Open, which was hosted by the Lakers, Saturday afternoon at the Kelly Family Sports Center.  

Junior Allyson Malone crossed the finish line in the 5K in a time of 18:05, while freshman Olivia Evans posted a time of 18:25. Senior Haylee Love notched a time of 5:04 in the mile run, which was less than 11 seconds off her previous personal-best indoor mark, which she set at Clemson last February.

Senior Mason Hazel posted a personal-best time of 14:18 in the men's 5K, while trimming 19 seconds off his previous indoor career-best effort and hitting an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the process. Freshman Ben Clark crossed the finish line in a time of 15:28 in the 5K.

The Trojan track and field squads are also scheduled to compete at the JDL Kickoff Classic, Saturday in Winston-Salem, N.C.
