Track and Field Set for SAC Championships

ANDERSON, S.C. - The Anderson men's and women's track and field teams are slated to compete in the South Atlantic Conference Championships, which will be hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne for the third consecutive year, on Friday and Saturday in Hickory, N.C.

The Trojan women finished fourth a year ago, while the men's squad earned sixth place. D'Yandra Morris returns for her third SAC Women's Championship after earning First-Team All-SAC accolades for winning the shot put a year ago, while junior Sherin Malone captured All-Conference honors after earning first place in the 100 meter hurdles.

Junior Olivia Gardner brought home honorable mention accolades for her performance in the 3000 meter steeplechase and Second-Team All-SAC honors in the 5,000 meter run. On the men's side, Philip DeGraaf was second in the pole vault while earning Second-Team All-SAC recognition last year, with Christopher Burton garnering All-Conference honors in both the 100 meter dash and 200 meter dash.

Nearly four weeks ago, the Anderson men were tabbed to finish sixth in the by the league's coaches, while Queens University of Charlotte was picked to defend its title. Burton, Mason Hazel and Brelyn Alston-Barclay were named to the SAC Preseason Watch List after their performances last season.

The women's squad was predicted to finish fourth by the SAC coaches, with Malone, Gardner and Morris being named to the Preseason Watch List.
