Trojan Track and Field Posts Strong Marks At UCS Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Anderson men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up their indoor slate with stellar performances at the UCS Invitational, hosted Saturday at the JDL Fast Track.

Senior D'Yandra Morris captured fifth place in the women's shot out with a toss of 12.30 meters, with freshman JoLyn Copeland taking 20th with a throw of 9.77 meters. Morris finished 14th in the weight throw with a distance of 13.24 meters and Copeland was 21st with a toss of 11.36 meters.

Freshman Martha Coleman was eighth in the 5000 meter run in a time of 19:11.87, with sophomore Hannah Sanford taking ninth in a time of 19:13.35. Sophomore Taylor Morris brought home 38th place in the women's 800 meter run in a time of 2:33.50, with freshman Abby Bozarth (2:33.63) finishing just behind in 39th.

Freshman Tori Cooper finished 18th in the women's 400 meter run with a time of 59.93, with fellow freshman Madison Seay garnering 27th in a time of 1:02.73. Cooper was also 30th in the 200 meter dash in a time of 27.20. Freshman Bailey Waldbart was 12th in the women's pole vault with a height of 3.15 meters, while junior Olivia Gardner captured 17th in the mile run with a time of 5:15.71, with sophomore Alex Dixon (5:35.08) taking 35th place.

Freshman Maddie Buddenberg claimed 28th in the 3000 meter run in a time of 11:13.36, while junior Grace Gerlock (11:19.55) was 30th and junior Mia Swierzs was 31st in a time of 11:36.95. Junior Amber Worthy finished 34th in a time of 12:10.62. The tandem of Sherin Malone, Cooper, Ali Palacios and Seay captured fourth place on the women's 4x400 meter relay.
Sophomore Anthony Aleruchi claimed 17th in the men's shot put with a toss of 12.52 meters, while junior Eric Hoover placed 26th with a distance of 10.34 meters. Hoover also finished 27th in the long jump with a distance of 5.59 meters and was 15th in the triple jump with a distance of 12.14 meters. Aleruchi garnered 14th in the weight throw with a distance of 12.42 meters.

Freshman Luke Rochester finished eighth in the pole vault with a height of 4.10 meters, with classmate Jeff Bannon just behind in ninth. Junior Ben Boerma captured fourth place in the 5000 meter run in a time of 15:52.10 and sophomore Caleb Stephenson took seventh place in the 400 meter run in a time of 50.75. Fellow sophomore Rashod Monts was 12th in a time of 51.03. Stephenson also claimed ninth in the 200 meter dash in a time of 22.64 and freshman Brandon Kauer (23.19) was 13th.

Sophomore Mason Hazel finished 13th in the men's mile run with a time of 4:19.48, while sophomore Brelyn Barclay was seventh in the men's high jump with a height of 1.96 meters. Junior Michael Burch claimed 30th in the 3000 meter run in a time of 9:24.28.

The Trojans are scheduled to open their outdoor schedule at the Charlotte Invitational in mid-March.
