Morris, Burton and Barclay Win Events at Southern Wesleyan’s Susan Rouse Invitational

CENTRAL, S.C. - The Anderson men's and women's track and field teams captured 35 top-ten finishes in their final tune-ups for the South Atlantic Conference Championships, Saturday at the Susan Rouse Invitational, hosted by Southern Wesleyan.

D'Yandra Morris won the women's hammer throw with a distance of 39.45 meters with JoLyn Copeland finishing fourth with a toss of 33.31 meters. Copeland claimed third in the women's discus throw with a toss of 32.55 meters, with Morris finishing seventh following a distance of 26.27 meters. Morris was second in the women's shot put with a distance of 11.39 meters, with Copeland (10.56 meters) earning fourth.

Maddie Buddenberg (5:08.73), Haylee Love (5:09.56), Hannah Sanford (5:16.38), Martha Coleman (5:18.10) and Grace Gerlock (5:21.23) finished fifth through ninth, respectively, in the women's 1500 meter run, with Allison Halperin (5:26.52), Abby Bozarth (5:29.60) and Mia Swierzs (5:34.04) placing 11th, 13th and 16th.

Sherin Malone captured second in the women's 100 meter hurdles in a time of 14.66, with Ali Palacios finishing fifth with a time of 15.05 and sixth in the 100 meter dash in a time of 12.50. Lauren Averitt (14.61) was 16th in the 100 meter dash. Madison Seay was second in the women's 400 meter hurdles in a time of 1:05.92, with Tori Cooper placing third in the women's 400 meter dash in a time of 1:00.47.

Charity Finley was fifth in the high jump with a height of 1.40 meters, while Amber Worthy placed seventh in the women's 3000 meter run in a time of 12:06.96. Taylor Morris was 10th in the women's 800 meter run in a time of 2:30.18, with Bari Robinson (2:31.71) and Bozarth (2:32.54) finishing 13th and 14th, respectively.

Ashley Rinehart placed third in the women's pole vault with a height of 2.59 meters and Bailey Waldbart was third in the women's javelin throw with a distance of 29.25 meters.

Brelyn Alston-Barclay won the men's high jump with a height of 1.85 meters, with Rashod Monts capturing eighth in the men's 400 meter dash in a time of 52.07.

Christopher Burton won the men's 100 meter dash in a time of 10.62, with Caleb Stephenson (11.25) and Brandon Kauer (11.36) finishing 10th and 11th, respectively. Burton also won the 200 meter dash in a time of 21.86, while Stephenson (22.40) and Kauer (22.61) were sixth and eighth, respectively.

Philip DeGraaf claimed second in the pole vault with a height of 3.96 meters and was eighth in the javelin throw with a toss of 40.33 meters, while Eric Hoover was seventh in the men's triple jump with a distance of 12.64 meters.

Anthony Aleruchi placed fourth in the men's shot put with a distance of 12.03 meters and fifth in the discus throw with a toss of 36.23 meters

The men's 1500 meter run saw Ben Boerma finish fourth (4:15.04), with Jesse Patrick (4:18.32), Michael Burch (4:20.83), Ned Kennedy (4:33.16) and John Drummond (4:33.65) finishing seventh, eighth, 16th and 17th, respectively.

Next up for the Trojans are the South Atlantic Conference Championships, set for April 15-16, in Hickory, N.C.
