Track and Field Posts Strong Marks at 49er Classic

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Anderson men's and women's track and field teams opened competition at the Charlotte 49er Classic with strong performances on Friday at the Irwin Belk Track.

Junior Jesse Patrick finished fourth in the finals of the men's 3000 meter steeplechase in a time of 10:18.86, with sophomore Mason Hazel finishing 20th in the men's 1500 meter finals with a time of 3:59.86.

Junior Eric Hoover finished 21st in the men's javelin throw with a distance of 36.82 meters, while teammate Philip DeGraaf was just behind in 22nd with a toss of 36.66 meters.

On the women's side, senior D'Yandra Morris claimed 16th in the finals of the women's hammer throw with a toss of 40.93 meters and freshman Bailey Waldbart placed 10th in the women's pole vault finals with a height of 2.75 meters.

The final day of the 49er Classic gets underway on Saturday, with the men's shot put and the women's 10,000 meter run both starting at 10 a.m.
