Jones, Ross and Howard Earn All-Conference Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. - On the eve of the South Atlantic Conference Tournament, the trio of seniors Myson Jones and Chris Ross, along with freshman Maurice Howard, have earned all-conference honors as announced by the league office on Wednesday.

Jones and Ross earned honorable mention accolades, while Howard garnered an All-Freshman Team nod.

Jones led the Trojans and ranked 19th in the league with his 12 points per game average, while pacing the conference and ranking third in the nation by connecting on 82-of-89 free throws (92.1 percent) on the season.

The 5-foot-9 guard closed the season by knocking down 37 consecutive free throws, while connecting on a career-best 10 straight in the home win over Newberry. Jones also led the Trojans by dishing out nearly three assists per game and poured in a career-high 25 points on strength of a career-best seven 3-pointers in the mid-December win over Erskine. The Aiken, S.C. native led the team in scoring in seven games and assists on 14 occasions.

Ross was third on the team and 23rd in the league with 11.5 points per game, while leading the Trojans and standing 18th in the SAC with 5.1 rebounds per game. The redshirt senior saw action in 23 contests, while starting 19 games after recovering from a preseason injury. He posted a pair of double-doubles on the season and reached double-figure scoring in 16 games, while netting a season-high 18 points in the home win over Carson-Newman. Ross led the team in rebounding on eight occasions pulled down a career-high 14 rebounds in AU's win over Newberry.

Howard saw action in all 28 games, while drawing a starting nod in two and averaged more than 20 minutes per contest. The freshman averaged nearly nine points per game over the last six regular-season games and handed out an average of 2.4 assists over the course of 22 league matchups.

The 5-foot-10 point guard notched at least one assist in the Trojans first 27 games, including a career-high six assists on two occasions. Howard connected on 82.8 percent (53-of-64) of his free throws on the season, which would rank sixth in the conference, but was just three free throws shy of the minimum qualifications, and was a perfect 10-of-10 from the line versus Carson-Newman.
