Men’s Basketball to Face Clemson in Exhibition

ANDERSON, S.C. - Anderson University head men's basketball coach Jason Taylor has announced that the Trojans will visit Clemson for an exhibition game scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 8, at Littlejohn Coliseum.

Clemson played host to Peach Belt Conference-member Francis Marion in an exhibition game last season, topping the Patriots, 98-44, in early November en route to posting a 23-13 overall record and going 10-8 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Tigers went on to advance to the semifinals of the 2014 NIT before falling, 65-59, to Southern Methodist.

"We are extremely excited about this opportunity," said Taylor. "I am grateful to Coach Brownell for choosing to play us. Coach Brownell and his entire staff have always been great to us. This is a great game for our program, fans and the Anderson University community. Most of our fans and supporters are also huge Clemson fans and supporters."

Last year's campaign saw Anderson post its fourth NCAA D-II Southeast Region Tournament appearance in the past five seasons, as the Trojans went 22-10 overall. AU notched a runner-up finish in the South Atlantic Conference Tournament, with only a last-second shot in the NCAA regional quarterfinals preventing the Black and Gold from earning a berth in the NCAA Tournament's Round of 32 for their fourth consecutive appearance in the tourney.

The preseason contest will mark the first time the Trojans and Tigers have met on the hardwood during Taylor's nine-year tenure, with AU stunning the College of Charleston, 65-49, during the 2012-13 campaign in the Trojans' most recent exhibition game versus a Division I opponent.
