Trojans Down Mars Hill for Fifth Straight Win; 75-61

Mars Hill N.C. – The Anderson University (5-2, 5-0 SAC) women's basketball team moved to 5-0 in the South Atlantic Conference after winning its fifth straight contest defeating Mars Hill (0-10, 0-5 SAC) at Stanford Arena.

"I thought we did a good job of finding a way to win a road game during exam week," said head coach Jonathon Barbaree. "We have to learn to take care of the ball more and limit our turnovers."

"Also we weren't focusing on our free throws and left too many points out there," added Barbaree.

Senior Taylor Hair equaled her career high pouring in 23 points and grabbing eight rebounds. Senior Britney Bailey tallied 15 rebounds while chipping in eight points. Bailey also blocked three shots and was credited with two steal. Graduate student Shameka McNeill added 13 points with junior Nelliah Wilson provided quality minutes scoring six points and ripping down seven rebounds.

Mars Hill De'Ja Marshall scored a game-high 24 points and was the lone Lion with double-digit scoring.

Anderson outscored the Lions, 55-35, before being outscored in the final period by six, 26-20. The Black and Gold lead was too large for Mars Hill to overcome.

Anderson remains on the road and will travel to South Atlantic Conference opponent Carson-Newman on Saturday. Tip-off is slated for 2 pm.
