Anderson, S.C. – A full South Atlantic Conference slate and four matchups with quality nonconference opponents, along with 13 home games highlight Anderson's 2021-22 women's basketball schedule as released by head coach Jonathon Barbaree on Thursday.
"I anticipate a really tough season with a lot of the teams returning key players," said head coach Jonathon Barbaree. "It will be a battle to stay at the top."
The Trojans will begin the season playing in the annual Conference Challenge against host Flagler College on Nov. 12th. The Black and Gold will then square off with Peach Belt Conference member Clayton State on Nov. 13th.
"I am really excited about playing in the Conference Challenge again," said Barbaree. "It is a great opportunity to play two very good region teams and have the chance to measure ourselves."
With the South Atlantic Conference expanding to 13 teams last season, the Trojans will square off against every league team twice – in a traditional home-and-home series - unlike last season when the conference schedule initially featured an unbalanced schedule of 20 league games.
Following the Conference Challenge, the Trojans will head straight into conference play with an away trip to Lincoln Memorial. Anderson will play a total of nine SAC games with a nonconference game against a traditionally strong Columbus State program and a matchup against a top-tier Conference Carolina opponent Mount Olive, to welcome the Christmas break.
Anderson will open the second half of the season at home on January 5th versus Catawba and finish out the regular season conference slate at home on February 26th against Tusculum.
The Trojans and coach Barbaree will be looking for its sixth straight trip to the postseason and third SAC regular season title under Barbaree's leadership.
