Women’s Basketball Tied for Third in Latest Southeast Region Media Poll

ANDERSON, S.C. - After suffering just its second setback of the season last Thursday afternoon, the South Atlantic Conference-leading Anderson women's basketball team is tied for third in the most recent weekly Southeast Region Media Poll, as announced by the regional committee Monday afternoon.

Limestone, which is undefeated at 15-0 on the season, was a unanimous choice for the top spot again this week, while fellow Peach Belt Conference-member Clayton State (16-1) held on to its No. 2 spot following a pair of home wins last week. The Trojans are tied for third, alongside Francis Marion, which also earned two home wins last week and vaulted from fifth past Columbus State into a the draw for the third spot. Columbus State, which was second in the poll two weeks ago, slipped to No. 5 after splitting a pair of PBC decisions last week.

Augusta and Georgia College swapped standings from a week ago, as the Lady Jaguars crept up one spot to No. 6, while GC fell one spot to seventh. Carson-Newman and Lander held steady at eighth and ninth, respectively, while Wingate, which was seventh two weeks ago and fell out of the top-10 last week, reentered the poll tied for 10th, along with Lincoln Memorial and Newberry, who were also unranked last week.

Anderson will get back in action on Wednesday, when the Trojans go on the road to meet Mars Hill for the second time this season. The Trojans defeated MHU, 53-45, in the conference opener for both teams in late November at the Abney Athletic Center. Tip-off versus the Lions is set for 6 p.m. in the Tar Heel State.
