HARROGATE, Tenn. - The Anderson men's basketball team rallied from an 18-point second-half deficit to upset 13th-ranked Lincoln Memorial, 84-79, in overtime as the Trojans closed their two-game South Atlantic Conference road swing Tuesday night at Tex Turner Arena.

"I am really proud of the effort tonight," said Anderson head coach Jason Taylor. "We played with a lot of energy, made some shots and just played possession to possession without looking at the scoreboard."

Anderson (5-1, 2-1 SAC) handed Lincoln Memorial (4-1, 2-1 SAC) its first loss of the season, and has won six of the last seven versus the Railsplitters. LMU, the preseason favorite to claim the conference title, saw its season-opening win streak halted at four.

Anderson's Chris Ross dropped in a close basket for the first score of the game less than a minute into the contest, and ultimately the Trojans' only lead of regulation. But Lincoln Memorial responded with an 8-2 run to claim a four-point edge at the first media timeout.

As the Trojans connected on just two of their first six shots, the LMU advantage grew to seven on guard Lorenza Ross' 3-pointer at the 14:30 mark before Chris Ross countered with jumper 27 seconds later to pull Anderson within 13-8.

Following a pair of free throws by Railsplitter guard Chance Jones, the Trojans scored six unanswered points, including four straight from senior guard CJ Gleaton, over the next 1:31 to trim the deficit to just 15-14 midway through the first half.

But the one-point deficit was as close as the Trojans would get until the 5:33 mark of the second half, as Lincoln Memorial capitalized on AU's shooting woes to post an 18-2 run and push out to its largest lead of the half, at 33-16, with 3:41 on the clock.

Anderson senior guard Chandler Hash drained the Trojans' lone trey of the opening 20 minutes to pull the visitors within 14 at the 11-second mark, but LMU's Curtis Webb quickly answered with a 3-pointer at the buzzer to set the 40-23 halftime mark.

The Trojans connected on just 7-of-22 (31.8 percent) from the field in the first half, including 1-of-8 (16.7 percent) from beyond the arc in the opening half.

Facing the 17-point deficit at intermission, Anderson guard Myson Jones ignited a furious second-half rally that saw the Trojans defeat Lincoln Memorial for a third straight time at Tex Turner Arena. The 5-foot-9 junior scored 11 of the Trojans' first 12 points of the second frame, including three consecutive 3-pointers over a three-minute span to fuel a 23-9 run in the opening 10 minutes of the second half. Gleaton added a traditional three-point play during the outburst, while junior guard DJ McGowan capped the surge with a putback off a miss by center Chris Ross to pull the Trojans within 49-46 with 10:03 on the clock.

A layup by Gleaton knotted the score at 57 apiece with more than five minutes remaining, but the Railsplitters quickly regained the lead on a jumper by junior center Keenan Patterson. With LMU holding a 70-64 advantage with 1:39 remaining, Hash drained a 3-pointer off an assist from Jones and with less than a minute on the clock, Jones connected on 1-of-2 from the line to cut the deficit to 70-68. The Railsplitters misfired on the other end and Gleaton followed Hash's miss from beyond the arc with a game-tying tip-in at the buzzer, sending the game into overtime with the score even at 70-70.

The Trojans trailed just once in the extra period, as Hash's driving layup from the right side gave Anderson its first lead since the opening minute of the game, at 72-71. LMU's Chance Jones followed with a pair of free throws, but Chris Ross gave AU a lead it would not relinquish with his layup. Hash poured in nine total points during the overtime and Myson Jones sealed the victory by connecting on two free throws with 13 seconds left.

Hash tallied a team-high 24 points, while handing out three assists and recording three steals. Myson Jones finished with a season-high 21 points, including 19 in the second half and overtime. He also dished out a game-high five assists. Gleaton added a season-high 16 points and pulled down a team-best seven rebounds. Chris Ross reached double figures for the fourth consecutive game with 16 points.

LMU forward Vincent Bailey led all scorers with 26 points and recorded a game-high 14 rebounds.

The Trojans take a seven-day hiatus from the hardwood for the Thanksgiving holiday, before opening a two-game SAC homestand by playing host to Wingate on Wednesday, Dec. 4 and Newberry on Saturday, Dec. 7.
