ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Anderson University women's track and field team has been tabbed to finish third in the South Atlantic Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, as released by the conference office, Friday morning.
In addition, sophomore Madison Seay and junior Haylee Love each earned spots on the SAC Preseason Watch List. Seay holds the school record in the 400 meter hurdles, while Love is a two-time All-Southeast Region honoree and is coming off a stellar indoor season that saw the Lexington, S.C., native earn a spot in the NCAA Indoor track and Field Championships in the mile run.
Queens was predicted to claim its fourth consecutive SAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship, while Wingate, which has finished as runners-up to the Royals each of the past three years, was selected to finish second. The Trojans, who have placed fourth each of the last two years, finished just ahead of host Lenoir-Rhyne.
Coker held the No. 5 spot with 39 points and coming in at No. 6 was Carson-Newman after receiving 37 points. Mars Hill was at No. 7 with 27 points, with Lincoln Memorial placing eighth with 22 points from the panel. Brevard rounded out the poll at the No. 9 spot with 11 points.
The 2017 SAC Championships are scheduled to be hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne, April 14-15, in Hickory, N.C.
Anderson is slated to open the season next Friday and Saturday at the Raleigh Relays and the Emory Classic.
