Men’s Track and Field Remains Seventh in Southeast Region: Women’s Track and Field Slips to Ninth

NEW ORLEANS – With East Tennessee State's Buccaneer Invitational on the horizon this weekend, the Anderson University men's indoor track and field team remained seventh in the Southeast Region, while the women's squad slipped one spot to ninth in the season's second U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll, as released Tuesday afternoon.

Half of the teams in the men's poll are from Conference Carolinas, with three hailing from the South Atlantic Conference and a pair from the Peach Belt Conference. Limestone held the top spot for the second straight week, with Mount Olive and Queens swapping slots in the poll, as the Trojans claimed second and Queens fell to No. 3.

The fourth through seventh spots remained unchanged, with Barton, Wingate, UNC Pembroke and Anderson holding those slots. Lees-McRae moved up to eighth, while Montevallo made its first appearance in the top-10 by vaulting to ninth from 17th just a week ago. North Greenville rounded out the poll at No. 10.

Carson-Newman and Coker dropped out of the poll.

The women's regional rankings featured the same ten teams, but those squads bounced around inside this week's rankings. The SAC led the way with five teams, while squads from Conference Carolinas captured four spots.

Queens, Wingate and Mount Olive held on to the top three spots in the rankings, with Southern Wesleyan advancing to fourth and the Peach Belt's lone representative Montevallo, moving up one to fifth. Lenor-Rhyne slipped a pair of slots and was No. 6, with Coker remaining at No. 7.

Limestone took over AU's No. 8 spot, while the Trojans slipped to ninth, with Barton rounding out the top 10.
