CLEMMONS, N.C. -- Belmont Abbey shot 293, the best round of the tournament, to rally from a 13-shot deficit and win the 2007 CVAC Women's Tournament Tuesday at the par-71, 5,800-yard Salem Glen Golf and Country Club Tuesday. The Crusaders did not post a score higher than 75 in the final round. Carley Warrington and Alena Hutcheson both shot 1-over 72, Jordan Kennon shot 74, and Dessa Bokides shot 75. The Crusaders, who led by five shots after the first round before falling behind by 13 shots after 36 holes, finished the 54-hole event at 927, two shots ahead of second-place Pfeiffer. Belmont Abbey's 293 was the lone sub-300 round of the tournament. Second-round leader Pfeiffer shot 308 in the final round. Tournament medalist Brittany Beltran led the Falcons in the final round with an even-par 71 to finish the tournament at 2-under 211, 11 shots ahead of Alessandra Maurtua of St. Andrews Presbyterian, who finished second at 222. Anderson University was third at 976, St. Andrews was fourth at 1,020, Queens University of Charlotte was fifth at 1,028, Mount Olive as sixth at 1,029, and Limestone was seventh at 1,059. Anderson posted a 330 in the final round. Sophie Dembroski led the Lady Trojans with an 81. She was followed by Erin May 82, Jenny Fretwell 83, and Carlie Eastman 84. Warrington and Kennon finished tied for third in the individual standings at 227, and Katie Clayton of Limestone was fifth at 231. The top 10 players made the All-Tournament team. The other five members were Charlene Reid of Pfeiffer (233), Bokides (240), Kristin Moberg of Mt. Olive (240), Dembroski (240) and Eastman (242). 2007 CVAC Women's Golf Final Results
