Women's Golf Team Finishes 10th At Tusculum

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. -- Belmont's Lorie Warren canned an eight-foot birdie putt on the final hole to capture medalist honors, while also leading the Bruins to the team title at the 10th annual Agnes McAmis Memorial Women's Golf Invitational at the Links Hill Country Club Tuesday. Anderson University improved by three shots in the second round with a 332 and moved up one place to finish 10th in the final standings of the 17-team event with a two-round total of 667. Anderson was led in the final round by Sophie Dembroski and Jenny Fretwell, who both shot 78. Jenny Odle shot 86, and Erin May recorded a 90 for Anderson's other two scores. Dembroski finished in a tie for 10th in the individual standings. Division I Belmont captured the championship by posting a two-day 619, 10 shots better than second place Newberry (629). Host Tusculum finished third with 634, while Belmont Abbey (644) and Indianapolis (645) rounded out the top five. Tusculum's Amanda Bowen made the biggest charge of the day as she fired a three-under par 69 to establish a new tournament record, while equaling the TC and South Atlantic Conference best for a single round. Bowen had a chance to break the school and league mark on the 18th hole, but her 12-foot birdie putt just missed. Bowen finished the event at 146, one shot behind Warren.
