Trojans Earn Conference Road Win At Emory & Henry; 53-46

EMORY, VA. – Paced by sophomore Diamond McDowell's seventh double-double of the season, Anderson University women's basketball (13-9, 7-5 SAC) earned a road victory over South Atlantic Conference opponent Emory & Henry (7-14, 4-9 SAC), 53-46, on Saturday afternoon at the King Center.

"Any win on the road is a great win, especially in February," said head coach Jonathon Barbaree.

"Diamond was huge for us today controlling both ends," said Barbaree. "Both Diamond and Britney dominated the boards all game and played great defense."

McDowell led all players with 18 points and 15 rebounds. She was also credited with four steals and two blocked shots. Senior Jalyn Spurlin was the only other double-digit scorer, dropping in 14 points. Spurlin also recorded three steals, three rebounds and two assists. Senior Nelliah Wilson came in off the bench to chip in seven points in 17 minutes of action.

Emory & Henry's leading scorer was reserve Taylor Owens. Owens netted 11 points on 5-of-11 shooting.

Anderson outrebounded the Wasps 52-35, while both team had 22 and 25 miscues, respectively.

Anderson will return home to host SAC opponent Catawba on Wednesday. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 pm.
