Bushnoe and McDowell Named Jimmy John's Athletes of the Week

ANDERSON, S.C. – Brayden Bushnoe of the Anderson University men's lacrosse team, and Diamond McDowell of the women's basketball team have been named the Jimmy John's Athletes of the Week, for the week ending March 5th.

Bushnoe, a native of Myrtle Beach, S.C., converted 16 of his 23 faceoff attempts with 12 ground balls and an assist. In the team's second half comeback, Bushnoe was 13 for 15 which allowed the Trojans to take control of the game, against a preseason All-American for Coker in Nathan Allen. This was Brayden's first game at faceoff, converting from offensive midfielder.

McDowell, a native of Asheboro, N.C., was also named to the South Atlantic Conference Second Team and to the SAC All-Tournament Team for her efforts. She averaged 20.7 points per game, 17.7 rebounds per game, 3.7 assists and 2.0 blocks per game over a three-game span in the SAC Tournament.

McDowell's 24 rebound effort in the championship game broke the SAC individual record and her three-day total of 53 rebounds broke the tournament record.

For the season, McDowell averaged 13.8 points per game and 10.3 rebounds which ranked 14th nationally for rebounds per game. The 6-2 forward also recorded a team-high 15 double-doubles on the season.

Each week, one male and one female student-athlete are honored as the Jimmy John's Athlete of the Week for his or her performance in competition, in the classroom, or in the community.
