Duncan Named First-Team Academic All-District

ANDERSON, S.C. - Anderson University senior softball standout Amber Duncan has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District III softball first team for NCAA Division II, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Thursday afternoon.

Duncan, a native of Matthews, N.C., sported a 3.77 grade point average, while majoring in biology and was named to the Dean's List seven times throughout her career, while being named an NFCA Scholar-Athlete on three occasions.

She earned All-South Atlantic Conference Tournament and Second-Team All-Conference accolades, while seeing action in 41 games this past record-setting season, helping lead the Trojans to a new school record for wins. Duncan's 23-game win tally tied for 20th in the nation and she recorded 143 strikeouts in the circle, while tossing 26 complete games.

The 5-foot-11 right-hander tossed 206 2/3 innings and was second in the league with eight shutouts and ranked sixth in the conference in appearances (35) with an ERA of 3.00. Duncan was a first-team all-conference selection in both 2010 and 2011, while starting 113 of 121 games over the last three seasons.

At the plate, Duncan was third on the team with 18 walks and ranked fifth in on-base percentage (.365) and posted a six-game hitting streak in late March.

First‐team Academic All‐District ® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All‐America® Team ballot, where first‐, second‐ and third‐team All‐America honorees will be selected later this month.
