BREVARD, N.C. - Behind a pair of stellar performances in the circle, Anderson swept a doubleheader with Brevard, 3-0 and 8-0, in South Atlantic Conference softball action Tuesday afternoon at the BC Softball Field.

Anderson (22-4, 3-1 SAC) continued its hottest start in school history and has won seven of its last eight games, while Brevard (10-14, 1-3 SAC) opened a six-game homestand with the setbacks and has dropped five of its last six.

Game #1
Anderson 3, Brevard 0

Freshman Jessica Neidigh went 2-for-3 with a double and also walked once, while scoring twice. Sophomore first-baseman Danielle Swygert also had two hits in three at-bats with a walk, and drove in two runs.

Freshman hurler Larissa Ostapiak (11-1) recorded her 12th complete game, including her third shutout, by tossing a four-hitter. The right-hander recorded one strikeout, while walking two.

Neidigh led off the game with a single through the left side, stole second and moved to third on shortstop Abby Child's one-out single to left field. She crossed the plate with the game's first run on a passed ball.

With Ostapiak scattering just three singles over the first four innings, Anderson went ahead 2-0 in the fifth frame, when Swygert came through by pulling a clutch two-out single through the right side to score Rebecca Martin.

The Trojans added an insurance run in the seventh inning after Neidigh led off the frame with a double to left, moved to third on Martin's sacrifice bunt and crossed the plate on Swygert's double.

Child was a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs scored and drove in a run, while Duncan helped herself out by going 2-for-2 and recording three RBI. Sophomore Stephanie Hanvey notched two singles in four trips to the plate, with catcher Laura Jansky posting two hits and scoring twice.

Senior Amber Duncan (10-2) notched her ninth complete game and fourth shutout of the season by surrendering just two hits, while fanning eight and walking just one.

The Trojan offense gave Duncan all the support she needed with solo runs in both the first and second innings, while adding two more runs in the third.
