Hart Finishes Fourth in Lynchburg Open Decathlon

LYNCHBURG, Va. - Anderson University junior Zach Hart claimed first place in the javelin throw en route to setting a new school record by recording 6,062 points in the decathlon at the Lynchburg College Open Multi-Event, which was held Monday and Tuesday at Shellenberger Field.

Hart, who was seventh following Monday's five events, shattered the previous mark of 5,251 points, which was set during the 2005 season.

The Mt. Pleasant, S.C. native brought home first place in the javelin throw with a toss of 54.25 meters and recorded four additional top-five finishes - in the long jump (6.35 meters), shot put (11.48 meters), discus throw (34.04 meters) and pole vault (4.36 meters).

Members of Anderson's track and field team will wrap up the regular season at Clemson's Tiger Qualifier on Friday and Saturday before competing at the NCAA D-II National Championships May 24-26.
