Track and Field Continues Strong on Final Day of Clemson Invitational

CLEMSON, S.C. - The Anderson University track and field teams recorded 13 top-15 performances, including seven outings in the top ten on the final day of competition at the Clemson Invitational Saturday afternoon at the Tigers' Indoor Track and Field Complex.

Sophomore Deniz Hay paced three Trojans in the men's one mile run, finishing seventh in a time of 4:30.71. Junior Alex Pena earned 10th with a time of 4:36.31 and junior Ryne Welch posted a 13th-place finish, crossing the line in 4:45.55.

A trio of AU runners finished in the top 10 in the 3000 meter run, with sophomore Parks Edwards (9:10.79) notching second. Sophomores Kyle Koby (9:29.17) and Matt Imes (9:45.04) garnered fifth and seventh, respectively.

The men's throwers continued their stellar weekend, as junior Will Byars earned second with a toss of 15.69 meters in the weight throw. Sophomore Brant Bullister took fourth at 12.54 meters and newcomer Nathan Plank posted a fifth-place finish at 12.00 meters.

Senior Whitney Bishoff notched third in the women's one mile run, crossing the line in a time of 5:04.98, while sophomore Lydia Davis (5:29.06) finished 13th and junior Amanda Johnson (5:58.12) posted a 17th-place finish.

Senior Lauren Sloan paced the AU throwers for the second consecutive day, placing 12th in the weight throw with a distance of 12.25 meters, with freshmen Savanna Keese and Brooklyn Watt finished 13th and 14th, with throwing 12.21 meters and 11.25 meters, respectively.

The Trojans are back in action on Saturday, Feb. 11, at the JDL Fastrack Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C.
