ANDERSON, S.C. - Anderson University men's tennis continues its
solid play defeating Lenoir-Rhyne on Monday afternoon in South
Atlantic Conference action at Hickory High School.
With the win, the Trojans improve to 11-5 overall and 8-2 in
league play while Lenoir-Rhyne falls to 5-12 and 1-9 in SAC
play.
The Trojans led 2-1 after the doubles round posting points from
the No. 2 and No. 3 spots. Black and Gold tandem Nicolas Ascarrunz
and Paul Michael Calhoun defeated Matthew Ledford and Jordan
Lawson, 8-3, for their fifth win in a row as a pairing. Juan
Carracedo and Inaki Iriberri won over Tomas Hons and Alex Crespo
Sanchez, 8-4, while No. 1 pairing Mateo Rivas and Aljaz Cajzek lost
a tough 9-8 battle to Patrick Bauer and Shane O'Dea.
In singles action, Anderson won five of the six matches to claim
the dominant 7-2 victory over the Bears.
The Trojans are currently sitting in fourth place in the SAC
standing and are one match away from joining in on the three-way
tie for second, with one conference match left to play.
Anderson men's tennis continues its four match road swing when
it travels to Coker on Saturday close out SAC play. First serve is
set for 1 p.m. at the Coker Tennis Courts.
