LOUDEN, Tenn. - Paced by senior Sean Shelton's 5-over-par 77, the Anderson University men's golf team is in ninth place following opening-round action at the Tennessee River Rumble Intercollegiate, hosted by Lincoln Memorial at the par 72, 7,163-yard Tennessee National Golf Club.
North Greenville (286) leads the two-day event by 12 shots over Lee University (298), while the host Railsplitters are five shots further back after an opening-round 303. Walters State Community College (304) is in fourth, with Brevard (305) in fifth.
Lenoir-Rhyne (312), Trevecca Nazarene (314), the LMU "Blue"
squad (319), Anderson (329) and the LMU "Gray" squad (335) rounded
out the field.
Shelton's team-best effort earned him a share of 19th place, while
sophomore David Wachter carded a 10-over-par 82 and enters
Tuesday's final round in a three-way tie for 41st. Senior Arran
Setro is two shots further back following a 12-over 84 and is tied
for 45th. Freshman Rob Warren (86) and junior CJ Messana (89)
rounded out the Trojan contingent tied for 51st and 54th,
respectively.
The two-day event concludes on Tuesday.
