Men’s Golf Finishes 16th at Rendleman Invitational

SALISBURY, N.C. - The Anderson University men's golf team slashed 23 strokes from its' opening round and finished 16th at the Richard Rendleman Invitational, hosted by Catawba on Monday at the 6,665-yard par 71 Country Club of Salisbury.

Limestone (305-293=598) led the 18-team field following Monday's opening round and held on to defeat UNC Pembroke (39-289=598) in a playoff after the Braves vaulted from third to tie the Saints on Tuesday.

Coker (311-289=600) jumped from fifth to third, while King (315-286=601) moved up two spots to fourth. Queens (308-305=613) finished 12 strokes further back in fifth, with Wingate (321-293=614) claiming sixth after holding the 12th slot following Monday's round. Belmont Abbey (320-296=616), Lenoir-Rhyne (309-307=616) and Erskine (316-300=616) shared seventh, while North Greenville (320-297=617) rounded out the top 10 scores.

The Trojans (332-309=641) edged Tusculum (334-309=643) by two strokes and Post University (340-323=663) by 22 shots.

Sophomore David Wachter (83-71=154) fired an even-par 71 on Tuesday to pace the Trojans' two-day effort and moved from a tie for 61st on Monday to sharing 27th. Senior Sean Shelton finished in a tie for 46th after a two-day total 157, while junior CJ Messana carded a 160 and shared the 60th spot.

Senior Arran Setro (88-82=170) tied for 85th and freshman Payton Whitlock placed 87th with a two-day 175.

Anderson will get back on the links on Saturday, at the two-day Tusculum College Invitational, hosted by the Pioneers at Link Hills Country Club in Greeneville, Tenn.
